April Showers Bring ... Veterinary Open Houses!
As we try to get through the last days of this year’s hard winter, spring is going to be very welcome this year. For a future veterinarian, there is more to love than the warmer weather and blooming flowers. Spring is the time for veterinary school open houses.
Veterinary school open houses are one or two day events where the colleges open up their doors to children who aspire to become veterinarians. Participants can tour the facilities and see the examination rooms, the laboratories, surgical wards and so much more. There are presentations and special programs like teddy bear surgeries, displays of items like anatomical models and, of course, animals. Families who attend college open houses find that the colleges have animals on display that most future veterinarians don’t get to see on in a normal weekend.
Spring is definitely the time to plan to attend one of these events. The following are the veterinary colleges that are planning to have their open house in the coming weeks:
Auburn University: April 16th
Colorado State University: April 1st and 2nd
Kansas State University: April 16th
Michigan State University “Vet a Visit”: March 19th
Ohio State University: May 21st
Oregon State University: April 30th
Purdue University: April 9th
Texas A&M University: April 9th
University of Florida: April 16th
University of Georgia: April 1st
University of Missouri: April 10th
University of Tennessee: April 16th
Virginia-Maryland Regional College: April 2nd
Washington State University: April 2nd
