You Are Needed in Surgery

Every veterinarian will tell you that one of the best moments in veterinary school was when they left the classroom and went into the clinics.  There is nothing more fun than practicing alongside other veterinarians. And there is no better place to learn the science of animals than in an exam room or surgical suite.  That is why, with our latest video post, Ichabod Ink takes you alongside a veterinarian as he performs surgery on a very unique patient.

Rattlesnake Surgery, our newest video, will take you into the surgical suite at the Georgia Sea Turtle Center and alongside Dr. Terry Norton as he replaces a radio transmitter in a Canebrake Rattlesnake.  As he performs the surgery, you’ll understand all that a veterinarian needs to consider with a unique patient like this.

How do you perform surgery on an animal that is ectothermic (cold blooded) and has only one lung?  How do your suture an animal with scales? More importantly, how do you keep the medical team safe from this very dangerous patient?  Take a look at our video, Rattlesnake Surgery, and find out!
